Portugal North Coast - Montemor-Velho Castle

It takes over an hour to wander around the castle ruins but it is so interesting that it is time well spent. In the smaller towns you find these types of ruins of castles (or forts or abbeys or monasteries etc) are free to explore and really interesting but in the larger cities you would have to pay about 10 euros each to see something very similar. We have found that to be the case in Spain, Portugal and France. Make sure you look out for 'finds' like this as you travel.
